Advanced Orthodontics Weekend Course
Join us this January 2026 in Karachi for an immersive Advanced Orthodontics Weekend Course designed for dentists who wish to enhance their clinical skills and gain deeper insight into modern orthodontic mechanics. This program goes beyond theory — each session focuses on real-case problem solving, clinical biomechanics, and evidence-based protocols to help you treat challenging cases with confidence and precision. Conducted over a series of focused Sunday sessions, this course provides an opportunity for participants to upgrade their orthodontic knowledge while managing their professional commitments during the week.
Course Overview
This advanced-level program bridges the gap between theoretical understanding and practical clinical application. It is ideal for practitioners who already have a foundation in orthodontics and are ready to refine their techniques, explore advanced mechanics, and understand the “why” behind successful outcomes.
Through interactive lectures, case-based learning, and focused discussions, participants will gain clarity on how to plan, execute, and troubleshoot complex orthodontic cases efficiently.
Topics Covered
Gain a deeper understanding of how controlled forces influence tooth movement. Learn the art of designing efficient mechanics that minimize side effects while ensuring predictable results. Clinical examples will illustrate how biomechanics drive treatment success.
Explore the use of micro-implants for absolute anchorage. Learn the principles of case selection, insertion techniques, loading protocols, and common complications — with practical insight into how TADs can simplify difficult cases and expand treatment possibilities.
Understand the biomechanics and benefits of self-ligating systems in clinical orthodontics. This session will cover the biological rationale, torque control, friction management, and case selection criteria for optimal outcomes.
Discover contemporary approaches to managing Class II malocclusions without extractions. Learn various distalization mechanics and the clinical application of fixed functional appliances — including design selection, timing, and patient management.
Develop a systematic approach to diagnosing and treating impacted canines. Topics include interceptive strategies, surgical exposure techniques, traction mechanics, and long-term stability — ensuring you can confidently handle one of orthodontics’ most challenging situations.
Hands-on modules include:
Distalization Sliding Jig Fabrication & Activation
Learn precise control of molar movement using sliding jigs for Class II correction.
Intrusion & Crossbite Correction Loops
Design and activate loops for controlled vertical and transverse tooth movements.
Loops for Impacted Canines
Understand traction mechanics and force application for guided eruption of impacted canines.
Forsus™ Installation & Activation
Step-by-step assembly and placement of Forsus appliances for Class II correction.
Artistic Bendings
Practice torque expression and finishing bends for ideal root positioning and smile aesthetics.
The IQ Sliding Jig — A Smarter Way to Distalize
Gain exclusive insight into the famous IQ Sliding Jig, developed and taught by Prof. Irfan Qamruddin. This innovative approach allows precise molar distalization without unwanted anchorage lost, resulting in improved treatment efficiency and patient comfort. Under Prof. Irfan’s direct guidance, participants will explore the biomechanics, activation mechanics, and hands-on application of this proven technique.
A notable case involving 10 mm of crowding was successfully managed as a non-extraction case using passive self-ligating (PSL) brackets in combination with the IQ Sliding Jig, demonstrating its clinical versatility and effectiveness.
Real Results: Using the IQ Sliding Jig for Molar Distalization
“I would like to share my experience regarding the Sliding Jig for molar distalization. The jig has several designs, but I used a specific one by Prof. Irfan Qamruddin. I found it extremely efficient — I achieved half-unit distalization over three months without any unwanted extrusion of canines.
Previously, I used bulky devices like distal jets, which were less tolerated by patients and added to treatment costs. This unique design offered better patient acceptance and cost-effectiveness. I find it especially useful for unilateral distalization and anchorage control.”
